One Perfect Day

If we had just one day in July in Sun Valley, here’s how we’d spend it...

Photo_2023-11-18_171456_edited.jpg

Wake up early, get ready for a hike, and head to Maude’s for a Cappuccino and a pastry. Sit outside in the sunshine and people watch!

From there we’d head out for a hike to an alpine lake, Pioneer Cabin (pictured above!), or keep it local hiking Adam’s Gulch, Proctor Mountain, or for a real burner, straight up Bald Mountain to Round House.

After, we’d grab a Schooner of Modelo, Fowl Burger and fries at Grumpy’s for lunch. Then we’d head to the Bigwood River and find a good swim spot to relax for the afternoon.

A quick nap (never hurts!) before we’d go into town and put our name in at Rickshaw for dinner. While we wait, we’d head to Scout Wine Bar for a Spritz and snack or TNT Tap Room.

End the day with a walk around town and a scoop of Leroy’s Ice Cream.

Our Favorite Places

icons website.png

Maude's

To us, Maude’s is the only coffee shop in Ketchum. Part vintage shop, part coffee shop/café it’s perfect for a morning pick me up.

Sweet Ginger

The best smoothies and smoothie bowls.

WrapCity

Both breakfast and lunch, this always hits the spot. Grab a wrap before heading out for a hike or ride!

Galena Lodge

Whether you’re hiking or riding, this is a fun stop. Grab a bite at the lodge - they’re open for breakfast and lunch.

Grumpy's

The best dive bar in America (according to us). Brian gets a Schooner of Modelo and a fowl burger. Emma gets the Salmon burger with fries. Whatever you do, you must go.

Sprout Wine Bar

Whether it’s a spritz or glass of wine, this is our favorite way to spend the afternoon after a day hike or before dinner.

Round House Lodge

Take the Gondola, or do as we do, and hike to the historic mid-mountain lodge for lunch and a view. Trust me when I say, you need to order the burger.

Rickshaw

In our opinion, this is the best food in Ketchum. Casual asian fusion cuisine with no reservations - so go early and put your name in.

The Pioneer

For a true Idaho steakhouse experience - this is where you get your Idaho potato.

Cookbook

Italian with a fun beer and wine list.

Getting to & Staying in Sun Valley

How should I get to Sun Valley?

Nestled between the Sawtooth and Pioneer mountain ranges, Sun Valley is a special place. With that said, it can be trickier to get to than other mountain towns. Here are a few options to get to Ketchum:

HAILEY AIRPORT

We recommend flying into Hailey’s Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN), if possible. The airport is twenty minutes from town.

BOISE AIRPORT

Another option is to fly into Boise (BOI) then drive to Sun Valley. Boise is a 2.5 hour drive to Sun Valley. You can rent a car or take the Sun Valley shuttle- click on the link or call (208) 576-7381 to make a reservation.

SALT LAKE CITY

Salt Lake City (SLC) is a 4.5 hour drive to Sun Valley. Renting a car is the best way to get to Ketchum from Salt Lake.

TWIN FALLS AIRPORT

Twin Falls Airport (TWF) is a 1.5 hour drive to Sun Valley. You can rent a car or take the Salt Lake Express from TWF to Sun Valley.

Where should I stay?

Sun Valley is a popular destination in the Summer, so we'd recommend booking accommodations as soon as possible.

RENTAL HOMES

AIRBNB, VRBO, and HomeAway are great options for rental properties around Sun Valley. We recommend staying near town, or near the Sun Valley Lodge for acccess to amenities and easy walking to town.

The Wedding Weekend

How should I get to the wedding events?

What should I wear?

I have questions!
Who should I talk to?

Transportation will be provided to and from the venues on Friday and Saturday evenings.

While you don't need a car, there's a lot to see in and around Sun Valley, so if you plan on staying for a few days we recommend renting one to get around.

Not planning to have a car? For local rides, please contact A-1 Taxi, Wood River Taxi, OR Sun Valley Limo & Taxi. Please note Uber is rarely available so please don't rely on ride share apps.

Great question! Ultimately we want everyone to feel comfortable and ready to celebrate.

Here’s some guidance on attire:

Welcome Party - Cowboy cocktail attire. Come in your own take on cocktail attire with a mountain west flair—think boots, bolos, hats, or statement buckles. Footwear should be suited for a grassy field, and layers are recommended for the cool evening air!

Wedding - Formal. Gentlemen should wear suit-and-tie, and women should wear tea length or longer dresses with shoes appropriate for walking on uneven grassy surfaces. For women, a wrap or jacket is always a good idea for chilly Idaho nights!

Ahead of the wedding weekend, we (Emma and Brian) are more than happy to help! Feel free to call, text, or email us (emmarieser@gmail.com, brian@hudskibikes.com).

We're putting our phones down on the wedding weekend - so if you need something while you're in Sun Valley please contact our lovely wedding planner, Heather at  heather@heatherminorevents.com.
